Kat & Ed’s Elegant Church Wedding & Disco Night Reception
Some couples dream of timeless elegance, others of a night filled with colour and music — Kat and Ed chose both. Their wedding day was the perfect fusion of classic romance and bold, joyful celebration, showing how a couple’s style can shine through in every detail.
A Classic Ceremony at Community of St Luke’s
Kat and Ed planned their ceremony at Community of Saint Luke’s Church, a venue known for its charm and timeless atmosphere. With a vision of elegance and simplicity, they created a ceremony that was both heartfelt and refined. Every detail reflected their love for tradition, from the architecture of the church to the way the light poured through the windows, highlighting the beauty of the moment.
Instead of spending the morning at an Airbnb or their own home, Kat chose a unique space to get ready. WabiSabi Salon NZ kindly opened its doors, offering not only a relaxed atmosphere but also the most beautiful lighting for photos. It was the perfect start to the day — calm, stylish, and a little different.
A Disco Night to Remember
When the evening came, the celebration transformed. For their reception, Kat and Ed moved to Wild & Co in Morningside, where the vibe shifted from classic to colourful. Their vision? A disco-inspired night of music, laughter, and energy.
After the cake cutting, all eyes were on the couple — and just as guests thought the moment was winding down, the band AcScoundrels burst onto the scene in a surprise entrance. The energy lifted instantly, and the night turned into an unforgettable party, with guests dancing, mingling, and soaking up the vibrant atmosphere.
Capturing Two Worlds in One Day
Being able to document a wedding like Kat and Ed’s is what makes my work as a wedding photographer in Auckland so special. From the quiet, elegant beauty of their ceremony to the bold colours and music of their disco reception, the day told two very different stories — yet both were completely and authentically them.
Kat and Ed’s wedding is proof that couples don’t have to choose between tradition and fun. They created a day that blended timeless style with playful energy, showing how a wedding can be both elegant and wildly entertaining.
It’s celebrations like this that inspire me in my work as a wedding photographer in New Zealand — every wedding is unique, and each one tells a story that deserves to be captured in all its beauty and joy.
