Kirstie and Michael’s wedding at Hus Farm in Auckland was everything they had hoped for — relaxed, intimate, and completely their own. It was such a joy to capture a celebration that felt so true to who they are as a couple.
Their love story goes back 11 years, built on shared passions and adventures. From their love of Star Trek and Japanese and Italian food, to hiking, travelling, and cosy weekends away with their pets, their relationship has always been filled with fun and connection. Their little family includes their beloved border collie, Link, and two cats, Kira and Worf. In true down-to-earth style, Michael didn’t exactly propose — Kirstie jokes that he “failed” at it, and she ended up saying they were just going to get engaged and went shopping for the ring together!
Their Hus Farm wedding was a perfect reflection of who they are. With just 22 guests at their intimate ceremony, followed later in the afternoon by a relaxed party with 45 more friends and family, the day was centred on laughter, good food, and plenty of silliness. There were no bridesmaids or groomsmen, no strict traditions — just a relaxed, welcoming vibe where everyone felt comfortable.
The atmosphere was set by the venue itself — lush greenery at Hus Farm combined with a spring floral theme. Soft, colourful flowers added vibrancy without being overwhelming. Michael wore a dark green suit while Kirstie looked radiant in her ivory dress, with nature all around them completing the picture.
Bride preparations took place right at the venue, with both sides getting ready together in the same space until it was time for Kirstie to have a quiet moment upstairs before walking down the aisle. This created an easygoing, family-like atmosphere right from the start.
